Description In the article I analyse stories written by students of Finnish as a part of their exam at the end of their first year of Finnish studies. In the analysis I concentrate on the impact of my instructions and their supplements (a given title of the story, pictures used as a part of the instructions). The purpose is to consider the suitability of the instructions for the writters (in order to be able to construct a story) and also the suitability of the task from the perspective of the teacher who is to evaluate the results.
