Description The chateau in Kravaře was ravaged by a devastating fire on 21 January 1937, during which the stucco decoration of the first floor ceilings were lost. Therefore, the appearance of the original stucco decoration is known only from the photographs taken during the 1930s. Rich mythological decoration was found there, which was dominated by the ceiling of the grand hall. Until recently the iconography of the stucco decoration had been identified as The Feast of the Olympian Gods. Nevertheless, a major interpretation shift occured when its graphic and textual source was found. It was the edition of Ovid´s Metamorphoses produced by the Nuremberg printer and publisher Johann Jacob Sandrart in Nuremberg in 1698. The main hall of the Kravaře Chateau depicted the fortunes of the famous prophet Tiresias. Besides the story itself, the paper deals with the period interpretations of Tiresias´Judgement. However, the grand hall in Kravaře represented much more substantial phenomenon of Baroque art because the theme of Tiresias´Judgement belongs among the quite exceptionally occuring early modern iconography that does not appear in commissioned monumental art works at all.
