Description Within twenty years, the troops of Cyrus II conquered a territory from the Bosphorus to the river Indus. This would not be possible without a well-trained and loyal army, strategic thinking and authority. In order to maintain the conquered territories, the father of the Persian Empire also had to demonstrate the diplomatic skill and tolerance of the ethnic groups that formed it.
