Description The Czech socialist theorist František Modráček represents a unique phenomenon in the history of the Czechoslavonic and Czechoslovak social democratic thinking because of his uncommon ideas as well as his wide general knowledge in the fields of economic and political theory. This study based on Modráček’s books and articles attempts to summarize his ideas and inspirations, especially his critiques of Karl Marx and his relation to the German revisionist Eduard Bernstein. The article tries to introduce his concepts of alternative socialist strategies as a support of consumer and production cooperative movements or the alliance with national parties during the First World War, which in the end let to his break-up with Social Democracy and an unsuccessful attempt to establish his own political party.
