| Description | The study highlights the discrepancy between established historical terminology which has given a title to an entire chapter of Moravian history - the Appanage Period of the 11th and 12th centuries - and the sources, where there are no references to the word "apanage prince". The study shows that this term was borrowed from Rusian and Polish in the Modern Age, where "apanage prince" is understood as hereditary, independent ruler. However, the relationship between the Moravian Přemyslids and the Bohemian dukes was arranged differently, which is why the author proposes a return to the vocabulary of the time and the title of "vice duke". |
