Citation
Description The paper examines the cultural transfer of the genre of ballad-opera and its appropriation in Germany and Austria in the second half of the 18th century. It does so on the example of Charles Coffey’s ballad-opera Devil to Pay or The Wives Metamorphosed and its German adaptation Die verwandelten Weiber oder Der Teufel ist los composed by Johann Adam Hiller with the libretto by Christian Felix Weisse.
