Description This study focuses on the beginnings of the institutionalization of Czech (Czechoslovak) museology, which academic publications typically situate in the 1960s. It deals primarily with the emergence of two subjects that differ from one another in a variety of ways: Brno External Department of Museology and Prague Centre for Education in Museology in the Charles University Faculty of Arts at the National Museum. The research objective of this study is to analyze the main developmental trends that both of these internationally known institutions underwent in the period following 1968. The author focuses on the strategies and motivations of their main representatives at the time, as well as compulsory changes to the overall status, personnel, organization, concept and curriculum, which are compared to some degree with the situation before the August invasion.
