| Description | The paper analyzes the ways the motif of national identity is depicted in Czech rural literature together with other closely related motifs. It points out the link between these motives and contemporary ideas regarding Czech national character. The paper confirmed the assumption that the discourse of national identity is related to the motif of national soil or land, as well as to the nationalistic discourse of the time. |
