Description The study aims to expand and enrich the research field of information literacy with the perspective of the educational environment outside the mainstream. Information literacy research is concentrated in the environment of an alternative primary school applying the principles of Montessori pedagogy. A case study of the school was chosen as a research strategy. The analysis of the obtained and triangulated data showed that an important prerequisite for the development of information literacy in the educational practice of the observed case is the competence focus of the case school curriculum. The development of the competencies of an information-literate pupil takes place in the given school across the entire educational process.
