Description After an introduction about Friuli, Friulians and their history, a synthesis about the concept of national narrative in general comes. The there is a description of the role of the Catholic church in the establishment of the Friulian national identity. Then the focus is on the oral lore and the preservation of elements of the classical mythology in the Friulian lore. After it the contribution presents the presence of the saints in Friulian lore and the inspiration that the writer Catarine Percude / Caterina Percoto took from it. The tragedy «I Turcs tal Friúl» of Pier Paolo Pasolini is analysed in the conclusion.
