| Description | In recent years, the consumption of audio content has become a major driver of the media environment. Although paradigm shifts have repeatedly changed from standard radio broadcasting through CD purchases and downloading to the current world of streaming, the traditional radio format has been able to survive these transformations due to its adaptable nature. Although the process of remediation may seem to be the secret of the consistency of this old-fashioned medium, it is not possible to determine with certainty whether the existing concepts can be considered as a mere more technologically advanced version of radio broadcasting. This text maps current and historical forms of audio content sharing and finds out to what extent contemporary interactive platforms can be classified as a variation of radio broadcasting. |
