| Description | This paper deals with the theme of the influence of the opera Boris Godunov by M. P. Mussorgky on the drama Smuta by A. A. Golenishchev-Kutuzov, Mussorgsky’s friend. In the paper the connections between the main characters (Godunov and Vasili Shuisky) and in the conception of the nation are analysed. Golenishchev-Kutuzov was clearly influenced by the opera and some moments of his play bear a strong resemblance to the scenes of Boris Godunov, the role of the people in the history as outlined in the drama is similar to the role of the nation in the opera. |
