Description The portrayal of the countryside and its inhabitants as bearers of traditional and folk values have been connected with the portrayal of national identity in Czech literature since the national revival in the 19th century. This paper aims to cover how is this connection between countryside, peasantry, and national identity depicted in the context of Czech ruralism.
