Description The idea of the unity of the Universe in ancient civilizations led to the belief that humans can influence the created order (the cosmos) by their ritual and ethical actions. The lecture traced the main postulates of the ethical conduct of ancient people from Sumer to the end of antiquity. It took particular note of the views on the protection of the weak from the strong, the protection of the poor and the disabled. It drew on sources such as Mesopotamian codes, Egyptian moral teachings, magical texts of the ancient Egyptians, myths, philosophical writings, poems, etc.
