| Description | The authors discuss Alexander's life from all sides, taking the reader through time, describing his life, letting us into the private life, customs, passions and joys of the Macedonian. The text illuminates his importance for the later history of Europe and Slovakia. Alexander the Great left behind an impressive legacy. He managed to transform Greece, overthrow Persia, found dozens of cities, influence the history of Central Asia and India, and accelerate the development of mathematics, zoology, botany, and military technology. He changed artistic movements throughout the ancient world and created space for new cults in Europe, Africa and Asia. Geographical knowledge of antiquity virtually doubled as a result of his expedition. He changed the demographic, social and cultural development of the world from the Balkans to the Indus. Alexander played a significant role not only in space but also in time. He was admired by Roman emperors and medieval nobility, but he is also a role model for today's generals and statesmen. |
