Description In the present contribution the Yiddish lexical dictionary- and text-based data are analyzed from the point of view of etymology (lexical borrowing) and the preliminary results are presented. The results include the distribution of loanwords from the two main non-Germanic groups usually thought of as forming the Yiddish lexicon – Semitic and Slavic – across word classes and their phonological and morphological adaptation. A brief overview of the overall percentage regarding analyzed lexical roots is also provided.
