Citation
Description This paper was devoted to the development of the fantasy literary genre within Czech literature. It outlined the basic development tendencies and it tried to trace the beginnings of Czech fantasy based on the definition of fantasy according to Attebery's fuzzy sets, Wittgenstein's theory of gender similarities and Clute's taproot texts. The main part of the paper was devoted to the presentation of the basic problems that this genre solves within the framework of Czech literature - its unattractiveness to readers compared to foreign translation authors or the problem of promotion and getting to the attention of readers. Emphasis was placed on the problem of quality and the relationship of Czech fantasy to new subgenre variants. The interesting phenomenon of double-domesticity and the related importance of the intertextual features of the work in the case of classification in the fantasy genre were also mentioned. At the end of the paper, selected authors were presented, whose works fulfill all intratextual and intertextual features and readers have no doubt that they are fantasy.
