Description Mindfulness can be thought of as a skill or practice that helps us to be more in contact with the present moment in life and to accept our thoughts, feelings and bodily states as they are in the moment, without judgment or excessive worry. It not only develops us on a personal level, but brings to doctors another dimension of wisdom necessary for a holistic approach in medicine. Research unequivocally and repeatedly proves that the development of mindfulness in life supports not only the basic pillars of mental health in the framework of treatment and prevention in both healthy and sick people, but that its training also supports the development of such attitudes of doctors that increase the quality of their care, communication and make their practice more competent. These attitudes include: attentive perception, curiosity, beginner's mind, and presence. The aim of this lecture is to present the medical doctors the concept of mindfulness and thus open up another possibility for developing competent medical practice and how to take care of one's own mental health.
