Description The paper was oriented to the connection of the works by Josef Suk and Vítězslav Novák to Slovak music and Slovakia in general. I mentioned the Dvořák roots of both composers and tried to clarify how their creative relationship to Slovak and generally Slavic culture and music differed from that of Dvořák's. The context concerns both the music and the subjects of the works. In the case of Vítězslav Novák, it was also necessary to mention his composition school that several Slovaks graduated from. The paper has been published in the book Studentská muzikologická konference Česká a slovenská hudba 20. století.
