| Description | The discussion on the need to protect intangible elements of culture has led since the last third of the 20th century to the search for appropriate forms of care for this area of cultural heritage. In addition to formulating basic criteria and institutional tools, appropriate terminology was sought in expert discussions. Although the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage introduced a codification of basic concepts, their content may vary from country to country with regard to national traditions and the involvement of different scientific disciplines. |
