| Description | Irrigation facilities were built and function mainly as part of a larger or smaller functional unit. Their importance, even from the point of view of potential monument protection, resides in the identification and documentation of not only solitary buildings but especially entire systems/functional units with a description of the links between them. An individual object or building may not be exceptional, but its integration into a larger functional unit can create a uniquely conceived solution. In the field of water management, the importance of criteria such as typological value, the value of technological flow, the authenticity of form and function, and the value of technology and system links with an overlap with agriculture or industry is particularly evident. The article provides information on the possibilities of using traditional methods of historical and archival research and documentation as well as the use of modern tools for more extensive systems, including methods of digitalization and document processing. |
