Description The aim of this paper is to present the translations of Modern Greek literature into Czech, to place them in the context of the translation policy in Czechoslovakia and later the Czech Republic, to briefly evaluate selected translations and to introduce some translators. I would also like to focus on the relationship between the Greek poet Giannis Ritsos and Czechoslovakia, his two stays in our country, the translations of his poetry into Czech, but also his Anthology of Czech and Slovak Poets in Greek translation (prepared together with the translator Marie Stříbrná) and his collaboration with the Union of Czechoslovak Writers.
