Description Even though the initial interest of monument preservation was directed towards the area of stylish (high) architecture, with the formation of modern nations, attention also turns to folk (village) culture and its material goods, such as the house. At the end of the 19th century a new form of protection of the village house appears in the Nordic environment, namely its transfer to a special museum facility, to a museum in nature. This idea was implemented in various European countries, including the Czech Republic. However, preservation workers preferred protection in the original place, "in situ" with regard to preserving the natural and social ties of the house. This form found its expression in the declaration of heritage reserves and zones, which took place in the Czech Republic in the early 1990s.
