Description The main goal is to find out the motivation of selected names denoting positive human emotions in Slavic and West Germanic languages, and to compare them in both language groups. The main subject of interest have become the motivation in the diachronic aspect (etymological). The result of the study is the finding that in majority of cases the names of positive emotions in Slavic and West Germanic languages have different Proto-Indo-European roots, as well as motivations of different origin.
