| Description | The monograph is focused on the non-formal table societies in Židlochovice, which were active in the first half of the 20th century, with reference to the period of occupation. It extends the current state of research on the history of Židlochovice in the 20th century. In addition to the topic itself, the author notes the general phenomenon of the table societies in the Czech lands from the beginning to the whole 20th century and tries to place their activities in a general framework using the example of Židlochovice. Here, sources have been preserved about the interesting account of the activities of the so-called Mesmers, who held a spectacular wedding here during the war, generally regarded as a manifesto of the Czech nation during the German occupation. It opens up one of the unknown issues of the daily life of Czech and Moravian towns and villages in the first half of the 20th century. |
