Description In addition to collection items, museums also curate a number of other objects, in the text referred to as non-musealia, which do not have the status of collection items, but are normally used by museums for exhibitions and educational activities. The study focuses on the environment of the Czech Republic and presents the foundations of legislative and methodical materials that provide for the treatment of non-collection items, or the so-called study and auxiliary material related to the collection. The research inquiry into Czech museum practice asks how the museum educators perceive the treatment of non-musealia and how they use them for educational purposes in their museums. It offers an insight into museum practice through three separate case studies – museums operating in the territory of Brno city.
