Description The aim of my paper is to provide a critique of fact-checking and to suggest modifications to the methodology to increase its epistemic relevance. First, I will present the current model of fact-checking as a branch of applied epistemology, its methodology and goals. Next, I will define and evaluate the epistemic characteristics of the fact-checking process modeled as a type of persuasive dialogue. To what extent should institutionalized fact-checking influence public trust in the claims being evaluated? What are the epistemological characteristics of the evaluation criteria of fact-checking? When are fact-checking criteria objective?
