Description In 2018, I conducted a research interview with a Czech casting director Kateřina Oujezdská, who claimed that she regularly has to train aspiring actors and actresses for their film casting performances. Since the majority of educational institutions, be it secondary or tertiary, include only stage acting in their curriculum, upcoming talents have to attune their expressions and voices vis-a-vis the camera with the aid of these film industry intermediaries. If the official educational structures, in contrast to above the line personnel, are not a key factor in facilitating screen work, what are? While some acting newcomers might benefit from the personal networks they create during their studies, others claim that their breakthrough happened as a consequence of not being employed right after receiving the diploma and therefore having enough time to attend castings. There is also a small group of young talents, who capitalized on their attributed celebrity status as bearers of a known surname, on their transmedia careers and their acting experiences since early childhood. In my paper I would like to first introduce key points of entry into the industry for a generation of young Czech actors and actresses, aged between 18 and 30 years, with at least one critically acclaimed and/or commercially successful project in their filmography. After that I would like to focus on Adam Mišík, a celebrated young actor and singer, engaging large and multigenerational audiences. I argue that it is his professional trajectory in which we can identify all key components contributing to sustainable screen career, namely education abroad, early start and crossing over between various media and entertainment industries.
