Description What has greater value? A visually unified and cleaned temple space revealing original artistic gems, or a village church where the original decoration mixes with kitschy 19th-century images to which our grandmothers pray every day? While our answer to this question may be a matter of personal taste, heritage interventions (not only) from the past century often deliberately choose the first option. Under modern restoration interventions, the church becomes a museum, and the religious experience turns into an aesthetic one. Why is this the case? And how should historical monuments be properly restored? This is the subject of discussion for art historian Ivan Foletti and archaeologist Jiří Macháček in the 46th episode of the podcast Středověk (jinak) trvá.
