Description Where did the art historians go this summer? This year's traditional pilgrimage led from the Swiss city of Lausanne to the distant town of Lucca, a picturesque Tuscan town that is somewhat overshadowed by the fame of nearby Pisa. Just like the famous emperor Napoleon or the feared general Hannibal, our pilgrims had to ascend 2000 meters in altitude and cross the mighty Alpine barrier. What (not only medieval) treasures does the ancient Via Francigena hide? Why is it difficult to walk in Tuscany? And which part of the route is the most beautiful? Whether you are a regular listener and admirer of medieval art, or an enthusiastic pilgrim eager to embark on a similar journey next year, episode 49 of the Středověk (jinak) trvá podcast with art historian Ivan Foletti and archaeologist Jiří Macháček is here for you!
