Description Mass tourism takes the soul of places. It drives out locals, overburdens infrastructure, destroys nature, and vulgarizes monuments. Tourism is a problem, yet we all want to travel. Art historian Ivan Foletti and archaeologist Jiří Macháček have just returned from their summer travels, and in episode 52 of the Středověk (jinak) trvá podcast, they reflect on whether and how tourism can be practiced sustainably. Is it possible to prepare cities for tourists without destroying their original ecosystem? And can travel remain accessible to everyone in the future?
