Description This paper is focused on the question of the inclusion of reference translations in the teaching of master's Slavonic translatology courses. The main goal of the inclusion is the to draw students' attention to the use of machine translations and translations produced by artificial intelligence in the context of Slavic languages. The main argument for this inclusion is that students rely on these types of translations, but they are no longer reflecting on generated solutions. The second argument is that because of using these types of translations vocabulary and translation competences altogether deteriorate. Besides other things, this leads to there being more post-editing than translating in the process. This paper also describes how the author incorporated reference translation into master’s course focused on practical and technical aspects of translation.
