Description The definition of ‘ideology’ has undergone a long and complex process of approbationand development in the lexicon of notions and terminology of Russian historiography. Whenapplied to the Ancient Rus’ times, the term was and is typically used with a preceding adjectivesuch as ‘feudal’, ‘official’, ‘state’, etc., each requiring a special justification and definition thatmay sometimes be missing from the works of experts. Yet, it is the understanding of whatthe notion of ideology meant in the medieval times that offers the possibility of studying thisnotion’s role in the ideosphere of Ancient Rus’, as well as those communication channelsand forms of representation that worked towards its dissemination in the communicationspace available in the pre-Mongol period.
