Citation
Description Human psychology is reflected in all spheres of our lives, including communication (both written and spoken). In the course of a speech act, the speaker selects lexical units not only with regard to context and the communicative situation but also based on their current psychological state and personality traits. The presented article focuses on the use of deictic expressions in Czech, Russian, and Ukrainian. It maps deictic expressions in the examined languages with an emphasis on spoken communication. The aim of the article is to describe deictic expressions in the studied languages and to provide evidence that their usage is influenced by the speaker’s psychological state. Attention is also given to particles in the analyzed languages and their significant role in altering the nature of utterances.
