Description The article is devoted to the study of underground spaces of architectural monuments. Using the example of architectural monuments located in Ukraine, the Czech Republic and Poland – the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra in Kyiv, Špilberk Castle in Brno and the castle in Oświęcim – the most common problems of preservation, restoration and modern use of their underground spaces are analyzed. A comparative analysis of underground spaces of different times, different functions and in different regions showed the commonality of their preservation problems. A set of measures to eliminate the emergency state of underground spaces and options for their modern use is determined.
