| Description | The monograph “Transformation of Population Development in Slovakia in a Regional Perspective from the End of the 19th to the Middle of the 20th Century” analyzes key demographic processes of this period: nuptiality, fertility, mortality, and migration. Its main objective is to provide a comprehensive and deeper insight into Slovakia's demographic past, going beyond mere data summarization, with an emphasis on regional specificities, determinants, and interconnections of these processes. The work reveals irreversible quantitative and qualitative changes in reproductive behavior as part of the demographic revolution (transition). It employs detailed analysis of published statistical and historical sources, such as population censuses and vital registration data, and quantitative demographic analysis methods. It examines how population development was not homogeneous but influenced by socioeconomic, cultural, and confessional factors. It also serves as the interpretive part of a historical atlas of population development. |
