| Description | Sigismund, King and Emperor of the Romans, gave his consent to the founding of the universities in Turin (1412), Cremona (1414), Asti (1414), and Mantua (1433). At the same time, however, it is curious that most of these acts did not have a real tangible effect. Taking into account both the perspective of the imperial court and local rulers, this paper will explore the political background of these foundations, the actors involved, and the related charters. |
