| Description | The present study focuses on realias as words denoting objects and concepts specific to the way of life, culture and socio-historical development of a given nation, as they represent a specific part of the lexical system of each language. In the text, we focus our attention on the problems of their translation in fiction. The study examines four Slavic translations of Georgi Gospodinov’s novel “Time Shelter” (in Czech, Slovak, Croatian and Slovenian) and presents the various possibilities of translation strategies. The text focuses only on realias from the field of culinary arts, presenting cases of finding functional equivalents in translation. |
