Description At Masaryk University, we've addressed two interconnected challenges: developing effective information literacy standards and transforming librarians into skilled educators. This presentation explores our practical experience with both standard-setting and librarian professional development. On one hand, the session covers our journey creating information literacy standards—including the missteps, revisions, and lessons learned along the way. The process taught us as much about organizational change as it did about educational frameworks. On the other hand, the presentation will demonstrate how academic librarians must master the balance between teaching explicit knowledge (database searching, citation tools) and fostering tacit understanding (critical awareness, information intuition). Join us to discover how these experiences can inform your own library's approach to both standard development and professional growth.
