| Description | The aim of the present study is to introduce some of the typical characteristics and manifestations of giftedness in preschool and early school-age children and to provide a brief overview of international and Czech assessment scales and other tools for identifying gifted children in this age group. This overview is based on Jabůrek’s 2014 work Přehled českých a zahraničních posuzovacích škál pro identifikaci nadání u dětí předškolního a školního věku but has been supplemented with articles focusing on the validation of certain assessment scales, as well as updates on the development of new versions of these scales. Assessment scales are an important tool not only for psychologists but also for teachers, special educators working in preschools and elementary schools, and parents of gifted children. |
