| Description | The paper will focus on the documents produced by the ambassadors of the Italian states in the late Middle Ages. It will specifically examine the newly discovered correspondence of the Visconti embassy to the court of Wenceslas, King of the Romans and of Bohemia, from 1386 to 1387. In this case, the incoming and outgoing correspondence and other related documents are exceptionally preserved as copies in a single “travel manuscript” kept directly by the ambassadors, but unfortunately it shows considerable damage. The paper will therefore present the possibilities and limits of the use of this fragmentary material. |
