Description The article presents the hitherto little-known personality of the owner of the renowned gilding factory Carl Behr (1819–1888) and his contribution to the cultural and social life of Prague in the 1950s and 1960s. It also sheds light on Behr's multifaceted business activities, focusing in particular on the establishment and functioning of his art shop, as well as its range of products. Attention is also paid to the relatively significant response that his inspiring work found in contemporary journalism and art criticism.
