Description The synoptic study deals with beliefs and practices of early childhood educators in relation to the development of creativity in kindergartens. By analyzing nine international studies selected from the Web of Science and Scopus databases, the study lays three research questions: (1) What aims and research questions are pursued in the field of early childhood eduction? (2) What methods are used in examining the issues of creativity in preschool education and on what sample? (3) What key findings and conclusions emerge from these studies? The results indicate that teachers generally perceive creativity as an essential ability children’s development. However, research also shows that beliefs and practices are not always fully aligned – the extent to which beliefs are reflected in practice varies depending on individual attitudes and institutional conditions. Factors that support creativity include teachers’ openness, ability to reflect, and the creation of a stimulating environment. In contrast, barriers include performance pressure and lack of support. The review also highlights the lack of similar research in the Czech context. The findings offer insights into educational practice and directions for future research in early childhood education.
