| Description | The study aimed to adapt, validate, and revise the Social Anxiety Questionnaire for Children (SAQ-C; Caballo et al., 2012) using a sample of 740 8th- and 9th-grade students from 13 randomly selected schools in Moravia, Czech Republic. From the original six-factor structure, two factors—Interaction with Teachers and Criticism and Embarrassment—were selected as most relevant for the school context. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses supported a robust two-factor model with excellent fit indices (CFI = 0.99, TLI = 0.99). Measurement invariance confirmed that the scale functions equivalently across genders. Multiple regression analyses revealed that gender and academic self-concept significantly predict levels of social anxiety, with females exhibiting higher anxiety levels. The results confirm the reliability and validity of the revised SAQ-C and support its applicability for assessing school-related social anxiety. |
