| Description | Disinformation and hate speech have become a common topic of our discussions. However, awareness of the risks associated with these phenomena is growing in proportion to the uncertainty about our ability to understand them, let alone eff ectively counter them. Support can be found in international research that has been looking at these phenomena for some time and that attempts to answer the following questions: How do disinformation and hate speech typically spread? What are the main strategies of haters and disinformers? What is their typical impact on the behaviour and psyche of individuals and groups? What type of defenses work and what type does not? And can disinformation and hate speech be curbed without infringing on freedom of speech? Th is book is the source for the most up-to-date research on disinformation and hate speech from the perspective of philosophy and legal theory; it also includes the latest insights arising from security and information practices aimed at combating disinformation. Th e aim of the book is to present this knowledge in a comprehensible way to a wide audience, including students and teachers in secondary and higher education. |
