| Description | This study is a probe into a fragment of contemporary Russian media discourse, focusing on the strategy and methods of discursive construction of the image of the enemy in relation to the Czech Republic, Europe and the West as a whole, especially in the context of the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian conflict and the tightening of relations between the West and Russia. The use of various linguistic devices and manipulative techniques as tools of Russian state propaganda is documented on the material of metatexts (editorial headlines, lead paragraphs) for selected Russian translations of Czech journalistic texts published in the period 2023-24 on the Russian news portal InoSMI.ru. The methodological framework of the research is the political science theory of securitization of the Copenhagen School, where securitization is understood as a process of discursive construction of threats, whereby a certain topic becomes a security issue on the basis of intersubjective communication, and this does not necessarily happen on the basis of a real threat, but because a certain topic is primarily verbally presented as a threat by politicians and the media. |
