Description The submitted monograph consists of two integral parts – a specialized and technical script. The main subject of interest in the specialized script entitled Museums of Applied Arts – Rise, Fall, and Future Prospects is the development of applied arts museums in Moravia and Silesia. The text analyzes the reasons for the establishment of these museums and notes a number of specific features that elevated them to the pedestal of museum work in the “long 19th century” (e.g., the richness of their collections or purpose-built museum buildings). Attention is then paid to the history of individual institutions and their curators, among whom we find prominent figures who shaped the museum discourse of the time. The concluding reflection then concerns the causes of the decline and actual demise of applied arts museums, with an effort to address their position and possibilities for development in contemporary society. The technical script draws on the content and methodological ideas presented in this text, providing a precise and clearly structured plan for the production of the film of the same name.
