Description The article represents an application of three contemporary theories of nationalism. Constructivist approaches of Rogers Brubaker, Jack Snyder and Pavel Barša, which reject the traditional "historicist" approach to the phenomenon of nationalism (S. Huntington), are applied to the specific case of the Hungarian minority in Slovakia. The author concludes that the given case more or less confirms constructivist theories, although several findings, which are commented upon, do not completely fit into the picture.
