Description The French novel of the end of the 20th century which is published by the publishing house Minuit is marked by authors of the "Nouveau roman" such as Alain Robbe-Grillet or Michel Butor. In his novels, Jean Echenoz has adopted a special attitude towards his literary precursors. Examples of this attitude have the form of rewriting of some commonplaces of this modernist literary "school". Among the other "new" writing processes there is the mirror writing or the "mise en abîme". The article tries to deal with several of these.
