Description The present article focuses on the Flow experience (I.E. absorbing holistic immersion into task) as defined by Csikszentmihalyi (1975). An overview of previous research in the field is presented with a particular emphasis on studies dealing with the Flow experience in cyberspace. The present study utilized a mixed research methodology, involving both quasi-experimental and naturalistic observation. The registration of the course of the Flow by a parallel Finger Tapping Test and by a subsequent inquiry on the quality of the experience is explored among 15 participants, comparing two types of tasks. Differences between the level of Finger Tapping performance during computer game playing and during a boring sorting task were found, especially in the intervals among the individual taps. The conditions for the generation of the flowgenic context are suggested for further experimental studies.
